WRiTEON’s foray into the Corpus Playroom draws its theme for this evening of new writing from the theatre’s idiosyncratic layout, where the audience views the stage from two different angles.

The challenge to writers is to create a piece appropriate to the space which also gives their own unique perspective on the theme, interpreted in any way they choose:

They might explore right angles, wrong angles, love triangles, quadrangles or pentangles.

There might be a prism, a protractor or an angle poise lamp.

There might be a cornerstone, a corner house or a corner sofa.

Will we hear Pope Gregory’s cry of “Non Angli, sed angeli” (not Angles but Angels)?

Will somebody try to put Baby in a corner?

Will we find ourselves in East Anglia or on the island of Anglesey?

The only limit is the imagination of the writers.

Selected scripts will be performed, script in hand, by an ensemble company of actors.

The challenge to directors is to fully exploit the space and enable each audience member to enjoy the evening’s events from their own unique perspective.
